Black Reign was my favorite Queen Latifah album. Rhymes on point throughout, solid messages, and smooth ass production from S.I.D Reynolds.

Taking inspiration from the S.I.D. Thanks for the beat. but I digress...

While the original version fits into the album, this remix adds a little bit of sunshine while retaining elements of the original austere track. The bass on the 1 and 3, the keys parlaying in beat, the hi hat a bit louder. It comes together to form a song with a bit of a bop in its step. If one could imagine the original song fitting into New York City doing its Seattle impression, the remix could accompany a day where the shower has ended and dappled sunrays peek through slowly dissapating clouds.

A Weather forecast with nine cloudy or rainy days and only one day of sun

Ain't no sunshine...

This may be a small footnote on Teddy Riley's career, but I feel that the understated way he brought his style to the song without completely suffusing it in New Jack Swing is a nice touch.
