My writer friend Suzanne's been working with the Willie Mae Rock Camp for awhile. it's an organization dedicated to making girls into rock stars, with camps and workshops. They're got an online fundraising auction drive that's going on until May 7th. Read below and please check it out.

Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls is pleased to announce two upcoming fundraising events to raise money for scholarships to send girls to camp this summer.

The “So You Wanna Be A Rockstar” Online Auction is an opportunity for you and yours to get the hottest rock star hook ups – all for a good cause! Awesome items are on the block, including a guitar signed by the Beastie Boys, a bag by Marc Jacobs, weekend getaways, recording studio time, and much much more. The auction runs April 23 thru May 7. 100% of every winning bid will go straight to scholarship fund. Visit http://www.williemaerockcamp.cmarket.com

The auction is being held in conjunction with the first annual "Willie Mae-ra-thon" – a Benefit Weekend of shows and events, April 26-29 at venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan. 5 shows over 4 nights plus an afternoon matinee, starring nearly 30 bands, including Boyskout, Flying, Care Bears on Fire, The Shondes, Taigaa!, and Modrocket. All proceeds go to the Willie Mae Rock Camp scholarship fund. A list of shows is below. Up-to-the-minute details can be found at www.williemaerockcamp.org/marathonwknd.html.
